Bryson Eiler Ms. Lehmann English 2-1B 3 December 2019 With Friends Like These… Article Review Tennessee Williams once said, “Life is partly what we make it and partly what it is made by the friends we choose.” This is something Dorothy Rowe agrees with. Dorothy Rowe’s article, “With Friends Like These…,” is an informative read all about how friends validate what we see and feel is real. I think that this article is quite effective at explaining how people confirm what we think. I believe that the article is meant for anyone interested or curious about what the impact of our friends really is. Dorothy Rowe has lots of experience dealing with the psychology of the human mind and how it observes. The author of this article has a doctorate in psychology and has plenty of experience working as a psychologist. I believe that with her knowledge and experience of how people think and feel, she is well qualified to write this article. In this article, she uses a majority of first person pronouns making this article informal and more personal to the audience. She writes this from personal experiences in her life, making it more relatable to the reader. Although she is qualified to write this article and multiple people like her have reviewed it, she does not have any sources to support her evidence. Another reason that this article is a worthwhile read is the way she formats it. She formatted this article in a way that makes it useful and practical to everybody who is interested. In her article, she uses the section titles as an easier way to organize her thoughts making them useful, practical, and essential to keeping the article organized. In her introduction, she states the main claim early and pulls us in by making the first few paragraphs detailed and interesting. Along with using section titles to organize, she also uses transitions to help the audience move smoothly through ideas and see where those ideas begin and end. Along with the way she formatted this article, I believe that the content is another valuable thing. The content in this article helps to support different parts of the main claim and prove Dorothy’s point. In the introduction and conclusion, the main claim is clearly evident as it is summarized in both paragraphs. The intro in this piece is very efficient in explaining the topic of the paper because it is very clear and direct. The conclusion is also efficient as it explains the final thoughts of the author and is really easy to understand. I believe that the author succeeded in proving their point: that friends are essential for us to validate what we think is real. This article runs on mostly the author’s professional experience but lacks outside research, as there is no bibliography. I think that this article is good for basic information but not so much for in depth research. I believe that with all these things combined, the article “With Friends Like These…” is truly effective at informing the audience. This article has succeeded in a basic summary of how friends impact our lives. I believe that the author was indeed qualified to write this piece. The formatting in this article was successfully used to clarify and organize the information. The content was relevant to the main claim throughout the whole paper. In conclusion, Dorothy Rowe’s article “With Friends Like These…” is truly efficient at explaining the impact of friends.

Article Review Reflection
Explain the process you went through to write this paper. Please be specific.
I first had to outline every detail and part of two different articles. Once I had every detail set out i then turned every part into a sentence to create this reflection. 2. What qualifies this paper as an informative essay? What are the requirements for a review and how did you meet them? This paper qualifies as an informative essay because I inform the reader about what makes this article a good read. The requirements for a review are to inform the audience of rather to read the article or not. 3. What one piece of advice would you give someone writing a review for the first time? Why? Take some time and think about the message you truly want to send to the reader then take time to read the article and explain why. I would tell you to do this because that would be the whole point of the essay to tell the reader something about an article without that your essay would be pointless.
